I have received several emails asking who made the graphic on my student website. While I appreciate the compliment, I cannot take credit for that! I use a quick and easy website to create these graphic word clouds. I not only create them, but my students do as well. When I shared introduced my students to Wordle this semester I was surprised that none of them had heard of it. I always love when I can be the first person to introduce an online tool to my students.
Wordle is a unique way to create a cloud of words that form a beautiful graphic. Here is the one that I have displayed on my student website:
- Visit Wordle at www.wordle.net
- Type in any words that you want. If you duplicate the word, it will be larger. I usually try to do create different levels of duplicity for aesthetic purposes. Some words are entered once, while others are entered four or five times.
- Press Create!
- What you have is probably beautiful, but that is just the beginning. Click on Font, layout, and color to vary your design.
- You can easily print it and use it for any purpose you choose.
Good luck and happy Wordle-ing!
