As educators begin to make sense of the Common Core standards, there is a lot of emotion out there! People seem to love or hate the standards. Once everyone cuts through all of the rhetoric and line in the sand drawing, the work of understanding and planning for instruction will still remain.
As a researcher, I am always drawn to data and theory. Pearson has a nice compilation of case studies on the Common Core. These case studies offer a nice snapshot of what is going on across the country with Common Core. You can read Pearsons 1-2 page synthesis of what is going on in specific counties and states, next steps, challenges, and implementation decisions or download the full case study PDF. It is worth reading– or at least bookmarking to read in the future!
